The Role:

Reporting into the Operations and Compliance Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our Product/Design/Engineering (P/D/E) team located in Toronto! The mandate of the P/D/E team is to lead innovation that allows people and populations to access effective mental health care through digitally-delivered CBT, and the Release Engineer will play a key role in achieving that mandate. This is a highly accountable role in designing and implementing continuous integration and delivery for the MindBeacon cloud-based platform and application services.

An Overview of the Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and be accountable for the overall quality of our product; understand system requirements and create test cases, execute test plan, and test strategy to ensure high-quality product delivery in every software releases
  • Execute automated test cases using CI/CD pipeline; evaluate automation options, develop new functional and regression tests to expand existing automated testing framework
  • Set up, configure, and maintain test environments, developing scripts to automate environment tasks, and propose improvements to the development testing process
  • Troubleshoot production issues quickly and improve test cases to prevent same or similar issues in future, performing ad-hoc testing for quick fixes and priority deployments
  • Participate in planning and release discussions, providing reasonable estimates for testing effort
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively across teams; schedule and host issue triage meetings with Business and Development team, collaborate to resolve product quality issues with software development, etc.
  • Actively participate in meetings with Business Analysts and Development team to clarify requirements and drive projects forward; evaluate, make recommendations, and conduct test cases reviews to ensure optimal business functionality
  • Contribute to a high-performing team through the active delivery of role requirements and following best practices, as well as development and contribution to positive relationships with internal and external team members
  • Other duties as assigned

 

The Skills and Experience That Make You a Great Fit for Our Team:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or another related field
  • Previous experience as a Release Engineer, with a solid foundation in QA methodologies, testing techniques and software development process
  • Minimum 6 years experience delivering high-quality PaaS and SaaS applications
  • Demonstrated ability in automating end-to-end test cases (Selenium, Protractor, Robot, etc.), API testing (SOAP UI, Postman, etc.), performance testing and security testing (JMeter or other testing applications, etc.), as well as experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience building automation frameworks from scratch, and following automation best practices
  • Strong communication skills paired with ability to work collaboratively in an agile team environment
  • Heightened troubleshooting abilities with ability to think creatively, anticipate, identify, and resolve problems
  • Comfortable working independently; organized and focused with effective time-management and planning skills to ensure deadline achievement
  • Adaptability and familiarity working under pressure and adjusting to changing priorities while maintaining a positive and constructive attitude towards work


What Sets You Apart from the Crowd:

  • Hands-on experience in C#, Java, or other programming languages 
  • Hands-on experience writing SQL, MongoDB queries and scripts 
  • Previous working experience in an agile, and/or growing start-up environment
  • Solid team player with solutions-oriented approach, easily listens to feedback and shares expertise and new learnings with the team
  • Identify as an innovative and curious professional, continually upgrading personal technical skills through research, education, and self‑motivated technology experimentation

Given the current situation with COVID-19, this position will likely start as a remote position, and you should expect, at least at the beginning, that your work will be done from home. As such, your training and onboarding as well as ongoing work will be a bit different than usual, however we strive to maintain a collaborative environment through the use of virtual software and a strong team atmosphere. When the physical office does re-open, we will communicate about a return to work plan.
